Ryan & Sandee
Hong Kong Exhibition Centre Wedding
25.04.2014
Kit gave me a call after Andrew and Carol and told me I need another snapper for this wedding. I asked him what’s so special about this one and he told me, you will find out when you get here…
Kit picked me up with taxi and we started heading to this mystery groom’s apartment for some morning preparations pictures. On the way he told me this couple is probably one of the most wealth in Hong Kong and their wedding is going to be super grand. Just the morning session they have two photography teams and we are responsible for the grooms side.
The taxi driver was struggling to get to this place because it’s not usual that a taxi will come into this area. I found out the residents who live there all have their own drivers for the start and was shocked. It was a house, probably about 4 floors and in a small city like Hong Kong it is very difficult to have one. I thenget to meet Ryan, whose father owe the Fujifilm brand in Hong Kong. Ryan has one of the most traditional chinese changshan with a hat on which is so cool. He has 16 groomsmen getting ready at his and having breakfast together. It seems like they are excited for the games and couldn’t wait to get Sandee through the torture games already.
After we took some group shoots of Ryan and his family plus his men, we set off to The grand Hyatt Hong Kong hotel to pick Sandee up. One of the funniest game was the groomsmen had to have lipsticks on by Ryan and lied on the floor for the other half to feed them 10 chocolates with their mouth. Then The girls insist two of them have to step forward to have hair waxed, to pick the two hairiest they chose one of the white groomsmen who has a lot of chast hair and it looked painful when they pulled the wax off him. Ryan and his men have also needed to write 8 promises on this board in order to pass all the challenges and of course they passed it all!
After that Sandee walked out with his dad from the room and they were both crying as they know they are going to miss each other. Then they had their tea ceremony with Sandee’s family, by the end of the session Sandee could barely move her arm as she has too many gold tied up as gift! Sandee was very emotional and you can tell she has a close relationship with all her family. Ryan had his parents and brother’s family over to the other room for his part of tea ceremony, again there were too much gifts! You can tell how proud and happy Ryan’s parents are by the look of their face.
After lunch we went to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre where they are having their wedding ceremony at. It is one of the biggest venue in Hong Kong and pink was the color theme. She had a lot of guest watching her ceremony. She walked in with her dad with a blessed smile and Ryan was definitely the happiest man in the world at that moment. They exchanged the wedding ring after saying I do, they were congratulated by friends by hugs after.
They had a break before their evening meal started, did I forget to mention there were over 80s tables? Yes this is how huge it was. They had to have some pictures taken after Sandee got changed. 3 of the Hong Kong Chief Executive came and greet them which was shocking for me.
After thousands of group photos they started their evening meal, then Ryan gave a touching speech followed by his father and Sandee’s father. Then they had family from both sides on the stage to celebrate being one with confetties.
After that two of the best men had a singing performance for the couple and the day ended with Lion dance to congratulate the couple again.
