How We Capture Your Video
There are hundreds of different videographers all shooting weddings and pre weddings across Hong Kong and the world. Each one of them has their own unique style and approaches each and every wedding differently.
Since we started the wedding business we have constantly been refining and creating our own style.
We listened to feedback from couples as well as listening to our very own artistic intuition. Creating your own remarkable style is what sets you apart and allows you to stand out amongst competitors.
Our style and approach is now recognisable amongst other photographers and videographers and has managed to win several awards due to its brilliance.
Our couples book us for video because they love the videos we create. They love the style, approach and edit.
The Koda Weddings videography style can be defined as modern, cinematic wedding filmmaking with an emphasis on natural creativity delivering a movie-like production.

How will the day unfold?
The reason we have put together this page is that we wanted to give potential bride and grooms an insight into our approach and exactly what we mean when we define our style. This way they can choose the wedding videographer that is right for them meaning that in the end, they will absolutely adore their wedding film.
Before we delve into how we describe our style it’s important to understand how the day will unfold and exactly what happens on your wedding day.
Bridal Preparations:
Most weddings start very early in the morning with the bride making herself look beautiful for the days events.
Here the bride and bridesmaids will spend several hours having their hair and makeup done by a professional before starting the day in her traditional red dress.
During this time our videographers will remain very documentary and relaxed in nature, filming small snippets from the morning before the door games begin.
We will also use this time to film the main wedding details such as shoes, flowers, invites and cards. Pretty much anything you have made for the wedding.
These little details make up a wonderful little section in the video that helps set the scene for the wedding itself.
Groomsmen Preparations:
Most of the time the groomsmen don’t take quite as long as the bridesmaids to get ready so once everyone is suited and booted the photographer will probably take the grooms party out for a few photos.
Much like with the bridal prep, we will use this time to capture a few of the wedding details including buttonholes and shoes while leaving the photographer to arrange or sort any group shots.
Chinese Door Games:
When everyone is ready for the wedding day it’s time for the groom and his groomsmen to compete to win his bride.
This has got to be one of the best parts of the wedding to film. Full of laughter and embarrassment, the Chinese door games really are a brilliant part of the wedding and need to be captured. The bride will be able to look back and see exactly what the groom has been put through by the bridesmaids.
During this section we try to be as involved as possible capturing funny close up shots showing the action as it’s unfolding.
We always try to allow you to get on with the event but we will always be close by ensuring that we aren’t missing anything that’s happening.
Tea Ceremony:
The Traditional Tea ceremony is one of our favourite parts of the entire wedding day.
With so much emotion and love on show it’s this part of the day where we like to remain unobtrusive, capturing the event in the background.
Rest assured, we will still capture all important exchanges but don’t want to interrupt any of the wonderful, tender moments you are about to experience.
Wedding Ceremony:
The wedding ceremony is perhaps the most important part of the entire wedding. Here you will actually become Husband and Wife signing all the required legal documents to ensure you are now married.
Once again, our approach to the marriage ceremony will be to allow the day to flow and unfold, capturing all the important moments from in the background.
After shooting so many weddings we are now well versed on many different types of ceremony. With this experience we are able to pre-plan the spots from where we must film and actions we must take during the ceremony to ensure that we capture the entire ceremony from start to finish.
With this in mind we plan to arrive at the ceremony location around 30 minutes before the service begins. This gives us plenty of time to liaise with the wedding officiant and setup the video equipment we need to capture the right shots.
Group Shots & Photoshoot:
The group shots and photoshoot is often led by the photographer. Your video team will have no input into the group shots however will plan several photo shoot shots with the photographer.
Here you will be arranged into certain family and friend groups, posing in a specific location and of course, having your photo taken.
We always recommend booking us for both photography and video as this will ensure suppliers have worked with each other before and know exactly what to do and when.
The photoshoot shots will be staged in a particularly nice location meaning you get the most amazing filmed scenes for your wedding video.
We may even capture parts of the photoshoot using our drone camera meaning you get some truly panoramic shots of the session.
Speeches & Toasts:
Many Hong Kong weddings include speeches and toasts. Here the bride, groom and maybe other wedding guests will give their thoughts on the happy couple telling stories about the past while wishing luck on the future.
In much the same way as the ceremony unfolds, we will pre-plan our setup meaning we can record the entire speeches from start to finish.
Banquet:
The banquet will be a time for your guests to feast, relax and look back on all the celebrations so far.
Your videography team will also take this time to adjust setups and relax a little before continuing to capture the evening festivities.
Cinematic, Movie-like Production captured in a Reportage Style
Now you understand how a wedding works and how we will film your day we can describe our approach and style a little more clearly.
Our plan is to film your wedding day as if it was a mini film capturing all the moments from the day in a cinematic, movie-like fashion.
We want you to watch your wedding film and be blown away by the visual spectacle while being taken on a journey of the story of your day.
Our videography team will be unobtrusive and natural when the story is at its most important parts while jumping in and coordinating when directing is needed.
This natural, documentary approach allows real moments to happen. Nothing forced or faked. Moments of love, laughter and happiness caught on film by an award winning videography team.
With this approach we are able to create a truly magical wedding film while allowing you to enjoy and revel in your special day.
High Definition – The Latest Technology
In order to create the perfect cinematic production we use the latest video technology. This allows us to film your wedding at the highest of quality delivering inspiring footage to your wedding film.
Our camera choices include the latest Canon and Sony cameras. We invest thousands every year ensuring we have the latest equipment from cameras and lenses to glidecams and drones.
Speaking of drones… We have recently added a drone to our video arsenal meaning we can capture amazing, sweeping, panoramic shots of you, your wedding and anything that forms part of your wedding day.
